Education

It was while peering down a microscope in medical school in 1966 that I first encountered the world of visual abstraction. I have been in its thrall ever since. Medical school is also where I realized I had a knack for rendering, and took my first art class. 

While practicing medicine for 37 years in Montreal and Vancouver, I was able to take art classes with teachers such as Armand Tatossian, Rita Monaco, Nora Blank, Jeanne Krabbendam, Steven Aimone, and most recently, Nicholas Wilton. 

While I loved doing small portraits and still life in oils, graphite and ink in the past, I find myself a recent convert to mixed media and larger lyrical abstracts. It begins with random marks on canvas or paper, with no clear intention other than experimenting with a new tool, technique or colour and seeing where that takes me. 

I currently live in Vancouver, BC and my work is available through the Seymour Art Gallery Gift Shop in Deep Cove, BC.
